School of Groove provides you with an opportunity to take your skills out of the classroom and into the nightclubs and venues where you will perform.
During each 10-week session you will work with a coach (bandleader), who will prepare you to perform 2-3 songs at the final student showcase performance. School of Groove prides itself in showcasing students at the best performance venues in Boston. Past venues have included the Hard Rock Café, Ryles Jazz Club, Johnny D’s, Wonder Bar, and others
School of Groove has many different bands and styles that are available to choose from. Whether you have just been playing for a few months, or have several years of playing experience, we have bands to join. We are also forming new bands all the time. Several of skills that will be developed during each session may include:
- Songwriting
- Improvisation
- Using specific gear and finding that “perfect” sound
- Reading
- Playing in a group
- Performing!
