At School of Groove, we provide you with the opportunity to get back on the horse. Learn some new schools, remember old ones. Take your skills out of the classroom and into the nightclubs and venues where you will perform.
During each 10-week session you will work with a coach (bandleader), who will prepare you to perform 2-3 songs at the final student showcase performance. School of Groove prides itself in showcasing students at the best performance venues in Boston. Past venues have included the Hard Rock Café, Ryles Jazz Club, Johnny D’s, Wonder Bar, and others
School of Groove has many different bands and styles that are available to choose from. Whether you’ve been playing off and on for the better part of your life, or you’re picking an instrument up fresh and want to jump into a new situation, we have bands to join. Several of skills that will be developed during each session may include:
- Songwriting
- Improvisation
- Using specific gear and finding that “perfect” sound
- Reading
- Playing in a group
- Performing!
