Great songwriters make writing hit songs look easy! What we don’t see are the countless number of hours that are spent writing, revising, and exploring musical ideas. This course will cover many of the elements that go into writing music such as lyric and melody writing, chord progressions, harmonization and arranging your music for a variety of musical ensembles. Students in this course will be encouraged to collaborate with their peers and bring their own musical ideas to each class. In addition to collaborating and performing student composed songs, this course will also cover based music theory and fundamentals.
