Nat Seelen – Clarinet, Saxophone, Percussion
Nat Seelen graduated from Brown University in Spring 2008. He concentrated in music with an honors thesis in ethnomusicology titled “The College Klezmer.” While at Brown, NatNat has been living and working in Cambridge, MA, where he plays with the Macrotones, Ezekiel’s Wheels, the Newton Symphony Orchestra, the Lowell House Opera, and the Longwood Symphony Orchestra. Nat plays a 1933 Conn Chu Berry tenor sax, a 1911 Buffet LP clarinet, and a Selmer Series II soprano sax. He wishes he played a 1956 Selmer Mark VI baritone sax as well, but that’s not in the cards yet.
Nat has performed with the Smokin’ Reed Saxtet, Yarmulkazi, the Brown Wind Symphony, the Brown jazz combos, the New England Intercollegiate Band, and numerous pit orchestras. He was president of the Brown University Orchestra and co-led the Brown Klezmer Band for two years.
