joeBoston native Joe Pessia began playing in his early teens originally inspired by the music of The Beatles, Queen, AC/DC and early Kiss. He later attended The Berklee College of Music where he earned a Degree in Professional Music.
As a performer, he has toured  the US, Europe, Asia, and Australia , has opened for artists such as The Pretenders, Carlos Santana, and Jeff Beck, performed on national TV (The Late Late with Craig Furguson, ESPN2) ,written music for ESPN, and collaborated on various commercially-released albums as a bassist, guitarist, and co-writer.
Currently Joe plays bass in band ‘DRAMAGODS’ (featuring former ‘Extreme’ guitarist Nuno Bettencourt), as well as guitar and bass with the group ‘STATE OF THE ART.’

VSG: What brought you to music?

JP: “My father was a musician…so it was always around.”

VSG; Why do you teach music?

JP: “I enjoy seeing kids that have the same enthusiasm and curiosity for music that i had ..and still have.”

VSG: What is the most impactive statement someone has made to you or
you have heard stated?

JP: “Knowledge is not a substitute for creativity.” – Albert Einstein

VSG: Who is or has been the greatest influence on your life, and why?

JP: “No single person….just the combination of everything and everyone to this point…good and bad.”

VSG: What are your words to the aspiring artist?

JP: “If you want it bad enough you have to persevere…what’s not easy now is that much more rewarding later!”
