SCHOOL OF GROOVE HAS MOVED!
After 5 great years in East Cambridge, School of Groove is moving to…East Cambridge! We begin all classes at 535 Cambridge St. as of Monday, April 30th, 2012. If you have any questions about where that is, parking, good restaurants, etc, please call us at (617) 868-1118. Our phones may not be up and working on Monday, so if you don’t reach us, you can also call (617) 875-7851. We know you’ll love the new space, the new concert hall, and the AIR CONDITIONING that you’ve all been waiting for. So, let the party begin at 535 Cambridge St, the new site of School of Groove, Rock and Roll Day Care, and the Cambridge Performing Arts Center.
Due to some unforeseen complications from the City of Cambridge, the School of Groove has NOT moved to the new location. All classes will continue at 883 Cambridge Street until further notice. If you have any questions, call us at 617-868-1118.
The next Showcase, the first of 2012, will be:
Saturday, March 24, 2012
5pm
Cambridge YMCA Theatre
820 Massachusetts Avenue, Central Square
Cambridge, MA 02139
Tickets are $5
Every now and then, we’ll send out news of the happenings and going-ons here at the School of Groove. According to my calendar, it’s “Now”, so let’s get started…
-NEW FACILITY
The School of Groove is expanding to a new facility. In January 2012, we’ll be moving to 535 Cambridge Street, just 4-5 blocks down the street toward Lechmere. This new space will be twice as large as our current space, and will house not only the school but three new ventures as well: a daycare center, a dance studio, and a performing arts space. There will be more and bigger rehearsal rooms, both for ensembles and individuals, with newer equipment. There will be a video studio for online lessons via Skype, as well as a cafe with coffee, baked goods, and treats, and a store to buy music accessories and books. And most, importantly, THERE WILL BE CENTRAL AIR!
This will be a fantastic new building, and an extensive build. We’re looking for help in constructing the space. If anyone has the time and/or experience in light construction, we could use your help at the new place. Contact Chris directly at 617-875-7851.
-SCHOOL OF GROOVE STUDENT SHOWCASE AND GROOVY AWARDS
On December 10th, School of Groove will present an all star cast of favorite performers from 2011 including the winners of the 2011 Battle of the Bands, BlackLight Sunrise. This’ll be our last performance of 2011, and a fitting end to a great year of music. Also featured this evening will be the first annual GROOVY Awards, celebrating our students achievements in the arts. Featuring the top student performers from the year, this exciting ceremony will showcase some of the great talent at School of Groove.
